President Obama visited Flamengo Futebol Clube of Rio de Janeiro and received an official jersey, Later touring Cidade de Deus, made famous by the film “City of God”. Later today Obama will speak to the Brazilian people at the the Teatro Municipal and tonight a special visit to Christ the Redeemer.

President Barack Obama visits Brazil

U.S. President Barack Obama arrived in Brazil today, meeting with Brazil President Dilma in the capital, Brasilia.

Sunday the Obamas, including First Lady Michelle Obama, daughters Malia and Sasha will visit Rio de Janeiro with a schedule to see Christ the Redeemer, Jardim Botanico and the favela of Cidade de Deus.

The most anticipated event will be when President Barack Obama addresses the Brazilian people in a public event in Cinelandia, in front of the Teatro Municpal this Sunday March 20, 2011 at 3 PM.

Security is Ultra-High for President Obama’s visit, with a reported security force of 800 personnel. Secret Service and U.S. military helicopters have been circling Rio for two weeks in preparation.

President Obama is greatly admired in Brazil and has helped greatly with the image and status of the U.S. after some rough diplomatic years with former President Bush.

Survivor Producer arrested for death of Brazilian wife Monica Burgos

Bruce Beresford-Redman, a former television producer for CBS’ hit show “Survivor” has been arrested in the death of his Brazilian wife, Monica Burgos, whose body was found in a sewer at the swanky Moon Palace resort in Cancun where the family was staying on vacation.

According to media reports, a witness at the hotel saw the couple arguing Sunday, and Beresford-Redman was reportedly seen with scratches on his body. The local prosecutor said while the cause of death has not yet been determined, Beresford-Redman is under investigation for allegedly strangling his wife.

Monica Burgos was owner of a popular Brazilian restaurant, “Zabumba” in the Palms district of Los Angeles.
