Lauryn Hill Brazil Tour.

It’s like September is African American Music Month with a continuation of Black American Artists and Musicians in Brazil; Erykah Badu at Back 2 Black Festival and Lionel Richie’s solo concert in Rio de Janeiro last week and this week, ex-Fugees member Lauryn Hill performs in Florianopolis, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo and Brasilia.

In an interview with MTV Brasil Lauryn tells us that her next studio album should be released very soon, but did not give an exact date.
Recently Lauryn took part of the Hip Hop festival Rock the Bells with Mary J. Blige, Beyoncé, Alicia Keys, Swizz Beatz, Chris Rock, John Legend Jay-Z paying homage.

It’s a shame though that Lauryn’s true Hip-Hop and R&B fans were not able to see her in Rio de Janeiro last night, as the show was held at one of the most expensive venues in Rio with prices starting around $175 USD, the show was attended by Rio’s rich and elite class that of her true fans would be hard pressed to afford a ticket. (note to American artist coming to Brazil – the average Brazilian’s salary is about $500 a month)

Mano Menezes New Brazilian National Team Coach

Menezes immediately began the rebuilding of the New Brazilian National team with players that average only 23 years old. Most will be unknown to those accustomed to hearing Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Kaka, Julio Cesar and others. The most famous player that will continue is Robinho, world ranked #1 goalie Julio Cesar did not make the cut, nor did Kaka or Ronaldinho who’s best days are probably behind them. A couple of new players and favorites of Brazilian fans who wished they had been on this year’s World Cup team are Neymar da Silva Santos, and Paulo Ganso who are expected to do big things on the national team.

The new Brazil National Team will take on the United States in their first match on August 10, 2010, so if you’re in New Jersey, check it out and send us some footage.

50 Cent brings Brazilian soccer star Ronaldinho onstage during his concert at Marina da Gloria in Rio de Janeiro. Over ten thousand attended the star studded event. Also seen was Brazilian national team goalie Julio Cesar. 50 Cent performed all of his hits as well as new material from Before I Self Destruct against a backdrop of a giant image of himself on fire. G-Unit members Lloyd Banks and Tony Ya-yo also joined 50 onstage the entire set.

Rapper 50 Cent will perform in Rio de Janeiro tonight at the Marina da Gloria. This is 50′s second time performing in Rio de Janeiro. After shows in Salvdor da Bahia, Sao Paulo and Belo Horizonte, 50 Cent will arrive in rainy Rio de Janeiro today. The Marina da Gloria, recently purchased by Brazilian billioniare Eike Batista, (Forbe’s 8th richest man in the world) has recently gone through many improvements and is becoming one of the new hotspots in Rio for live entertainment. Recently, ol-skool hip hop king, Afrika Bambatta celebrated his birthday and put on a show at the Marina da Gloria. 50 Cent is joined by G-Unit’s Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo.

Chris Lighty,  CEO of Violator Records and Management, has been making big moves in Brazil by bringing his roster of artists down to perform. Brazilian fans have gotten to see and hear Mariah Carey and Diddy who both performed during Oi Fashion Rocks in the Marvelous City last year and now 50 Cent. Rio de Janeiro has a huge following of Hip Hop and R&B, probably the biggest in Brazil and they are looking forward to seeing 50 Cent live tonight.

An Air France passenger plane flying from Rio to Paris made an emergency landing in northeastern Brazil Saturday night after a hoax bomb alert.

All 405 passengers and 18 crew members were safely evacuated from AF Flight 443, said Jorge Andrade, a spokesman for airport authority Infraero in the Brazilian city of Recife.

“Air France confirms that the crew was informed in-flight of a threat of a possible presence of an explosive device on board,” said an Air France spokesman.

The pilot was requested to land in Recife for an inspection, Air France said.

Solange Argenta, a spokeswoman at the Recife airport, said authorities had not found any explosives after a five-hour search, and the jet was expected to be cleared to resume its flight to Paris. The airport was closed for about 30 minutes.

Flight 443 was on the same route as an Air France airliner that crashed last June off Brazil’s northeastern coast, killing all 228 people aboard. It was the worst crash in Air France’s 75-year history.

My opinion, I think they could have made a better choice. I’ve seen some very creative designs online myself and Brazilians are very creative, artistic people and I don’t think this really represents it that well..
