Red Bull Air Race – Rio de Janeiro
For only the second time in in the 46 race history of Red Bull Air Race Championship has a race been cancelled due to rain. The heavy rain and winds in Rio caused the pilots to be recalled to the race airport. Pilots and a crowd of 250,000 waited but the weather conditions did not improve, so the Red Bull organizers decided to cancel the second day of the competition. The victor and runner ups were based on the first day qualifying round of flying.
Hannes Arch of Austria takes 1st place, Nigel Lamb of Great Britain came 2nd and Paul Bonhomme of Great Britain 3rd.
The next Red Bull Air Race will be in Windsor, Canada – June 5-6.
